In 2020 we’ve got a strong line up of incredible minds and varied experiences.
Andy Lewis MBE
Andy Lewis MBE, took up paratriathlon in 2013 and began competing in 2014. In 2016 he won gold at the European Championships and the ITU Para-Triathlon World Championships.
Not only this but in 2016 he won GOLD in the PT2 category at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
More recently, Andy has used his life experiences and adversities to create a powerful message.
Andy will be ‘talking about his highs and lows’ including his success in sport but also his mental health and nearly losing his wife and children through pushing himself to the limits.
Simon Ward has been a triathlon coach for over 20 years.
During that time he has helped over 1000 athletes reach the finish line of an iron distance events.
In addition to coaching Simon loves sharing information about how to perform better as a human being and an athlete.
He achieves this through several channels:
Tutoring for British triathlon on the High performance Coach Programme,
His weekly High Performance Human podcast,
As well as various social media outlets including the TriathlonCoach cafe Facebook page.
Oh and just in case you were wondering he can also walk the walk.
Since starting his triathlon journey in 1987 he has completed 18 iron distance events including Hawaii, the Norseman as well as OtillO swim run event and Marathon des Sables twice.
He is also a brand ambassador for Suunto, Raceskin, Quintana Roo and Litespeed and a coach ambassador for Training Peaks.
He’ll be speaking on how:
“Good health leads to great performance – Training for triathlon the High Performance way”
With over 30 years experience working with athletes in endurance sports, in Triathlon and Athletics, Rob has helped athletes reach and perform from Club level to Commonwealth Games, Athletics World Championship, Ironman Triathlon World Championships as well as numerous European and National Events.
Rob’s philosophy is focused on the individual:
“To help someone realise their potential requires addressing all the areas that might affect their performance. Training, Nutrition, Psychology, Lifestyle, Work etc. Every person is different with a unique background and set of circumstances and therefore has different requirements that will require personal attention.”
As a Performance Psychologist Rob’s specialities are:
Performance step change, developing mental toughness, maintaining motivation, developing and improving self confidence, overcoming barriers to performance and developing the winning mindset.
Rob’s talk will be on:
“How Motivation Affects Emotion and it’s impact on training and racing.”

He’ll be talking about the much discussed topic of training zones and the “80/20 Model and Training Zones”.
And not just talking about them either…
We will be having a live demonstration of a ramp test happening on the stage.
The results of which will be digging into on the day too.
Vicky Balfour is nominated as one of Cycling UK’s Top 100 Women in Cycling 2019 for being a shining example of a woman achieving in cycling.
She is a mountain biker, teaches mechanics at a Community Bike Project and is a qualified bike mechanic.
As a qualified mechanic who works on international race circuit, Vicky has a rare set of skills.
She started as a mechanic at Biketart and now splits her time between working at The Canterbury Bike Project teaching bike mechanics to women, families and young people with learning difficulties while also working as an event mechanic for Chain Reaction Cycles and Wiggle.
Dan Young MSc. (Sports & Exercise Medicine) BSc. Hons (Sports Science) BSc. Hons (Physiotherapy) MAACP MCSP HCPC registered
Head of Sports & Exercise Medicine
Having completed a degree in sports science, Dan went on to complete his physiotherapy degree which he passed with first class honours. Over the years he has worked for the NHS, Military and private sectors and, since 2013, he has been the centre manager and clinical lead at the Hampshire Wellbeing Centre.
He has extensive experience in treating all types of conditions and injuries, including polytrauma, but holds a special interest in exercise related leg pain and long-standing groin pain. His interest in sport and exercise medicine extends beyond elite athletes and Dan is heavily engaged in promoting rehabilitation and exercise in the aging population, particularly those with additional problems that can make it difficult to complete mainstream exercise.
Alongside his position at Hampshire Wellbeing Centre, Dan is also a visiting lecturer at Bournemouth University, and is a member of the Hampshire Cricket Medical team.
Triathlon England Youth Forum
The Triathlon England Youth Forum are made up of 9 volunteers from across England.
The Youth Forum represent the views of all young triathletes in future triathlon programmes and help Triathlon England engage younger audiences.
They will be aiming to engage the next generation and maybe even find our next Alistair Brownlee!
They will have a fully interactive stand aiming to get kids involved in triathlon (ages up to 14) involving a run/bike/run.
